Daisy came into MAESSR’s care from North Carolina because her family did not have much time to give to her.
This little girl has impeccable house manners: housetrained, no counter-surfing, leaves trash baskets alone. She only went on the sofa once, but immediately got off when told. Daisy knows the basic commands of “sit” and “down”; however, “stay” is another issue. Since she loves to be with her people and is a nosy little one, to “stay” is a stretch, but her foster family is working on this command using training treats. Daisy rides beautifully in the car, staying in the back seat and not attempting to come forward.
Daisy likes the outdoors, willingly going for walks at any time. She is not well trained on a leash, though, and walks in a zigzag pattern. To rectify this problem, Daisy now wears a gentle leader harness and her walking is much improved! Not much into ball playing or Frisbee, Daisy does love to sniff around the yard. She is friendly with the neighbor’s male Golden Retriever, but she has not had the opportunity to meet any cats yet. When she greets new people, Daisy is very polite and does not jump up on them. She has not met any children during her time in her foster home.
Besides using her nose for sniffing, Daisy lets you know when she needs attention by gently nudging your hand with her nose. She also does this first thing in the morning to let you know it’s time to start the day. If you don’t respond, she will jump on the bed and lie next to you! There is a crate in the bedroom which she sometimes uses at night or she will sleep on the dog bed or she just sleeps on the carpet and/or wood floor– her choice! Daisy lives in a multiple storied house which at first was a challenge for her. She mastered the stairs in no time and just follows her foster mom up and down.
Daisy would do well in a home where someone is usually there most of the time. She’s very lovable and easy to get along with, but does need companionship. Toys don’t keep her interest, so human interaction is a must. Could you provide this love and companionship? Pick this Daisy!
