Da Jeongah (or Da for short as his foster mom calls him) was relinquished to MAESSR because he was not getting along with the new 8 month old Irish setter puppy in his Virginia home. Da had been handed off a couple of times before he came to his current owner about 4 years ago from a Craig’s List ad. Despite being very torn about relinquishing Da, his owner wanted the best for the dog.
About 1 1/2 years ago Da was attacked by a stray dog. Since then, he has been leery of other dogs, particularly males. He does well with female dogs, though. He actually gets along with all but one of the 18 dogs in his foster home.
In his previous home, Da played with the owner’s brother’s small children, ages 5, 6, and 7 years, and was fine with them. He was also exposed to the brother’s cats and tried to play with them; unfortunately, the cats ignored him. Da is a little slow warming up to new people but he loves attention once he gets to know them.
Housetrained and reliable, Da is crated overnight but would love to be in the bedroom with his foster parents. He has very nice house manners so a crate is not a necessity. Da doesn’t bark, dig, chew, beg for food, counter-surf or jump on people. To get his people’s attention, he spins!
Da hasn’t had any formal obedience training but knows “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “paw” and “lie down.” He will pull some on the leash and loves riding in the car. This good boy was wonderful for the groomer and the vet.
Da loves his stuffed animals, going on walks, chasing sticks and throwing stuff in the air. Swimming has not been on his list of activities to date.
