Original: Curtains is the last of a litter of 7 puppies and came into MAESSR’s care when she needed a home. She is a purebred but not registered and wags a full tail. She was the first to do everything in her litter, including open her eyes, stand up or play, and get into mischief. After meeting her, Curtains’ foster family felt the name she arrived with didn’t quite fit. They have been calling her Chelsea, and she is learning it quickly.
Curtains/Chelsea is well behaved, knows “sit,” and is quickly learning other basic commands. Although she is an active puppy, she loves people and will rest quietly at their feet for an hour or more. She shows no food or toy aggression, is not sensitive to having her paws or ears touched, and is very bright and eager to please. She sleeps contentedly in her crate at night and doesn’t howl or misbehave if she is left in her crate in the daytime. She is interested in the counter, the garbage can, and the cat food, and is quickly learning that these activities will earn her a squirt from the water bottle and a loud “NO!”
Great with chasing a ball, she is also very entertained by cat toys and wants to share in the excitement of playing with the “feathered bird.” She likes the resident cats and wants to play with them, although her excitement sometimes makes them seek higher ground. They like playing with her and the male cat finds her wagging tail a source of joy as he pounces on his new, live toy.
Chelsea is good with senior dogs and will adopt a submissive posture if her puppy antics have earned her a scolding. She will be a valued member of the very special family who adopts her. A word of caution from her foster family: She is a very bright dog and could easily excel at agility trials, etc. However, if not properly trained, she will probably stress her family with her “naughty” behavior. She’s a real cutie and will soon be ready for a family who will see that she gets the love and training every puppy needs to succeed!!!!
