Curious George was rescued from a South Carolina shelter by MAESSR. As he was driven to his foster home, his foster mom immediately saw what a loving dog he was as he placed his head on her leg and just sighed. He knew he was going to be all right. After getting out of the car at his new foster home, he just couldn’t contain himself with joy. He went sniffing and running all over the yard. Then, he came back running to his foster mom with a big grin on his face! He was so happy!
Like his namesake, this Curious George sometimes gets himself into trouble so he is finding out what the word “No!” sounds like. In his excitement to greet his foster parents, he jumps up, so he is told, “No. Down.” When he tries to play too rough with the small resident poodle or the outdoor cat, he hears that word, “No.” When his foster parents are trying to teach him how to sit or stay or even when they say the word “No,” he cocks his head in a cute way and has this look on his face as if he were saying, “Are you talking to ME?” Curious George only counter-surfs a little; he only does that to find out what’s cooking! Of course, he gets the “No” word again. His foster parents are working on the basic command “sit” which at this time really needs some coaxing. But, in time, he will get the message. He is leash trained, but can pull a little. His foster parents are working on that, too.
His favorite live toy is the resident cat that stays outside. When he goes outside he looks for her, he is very focused and will stand with a pointer position wanting to know, “Where is my Kitty Kitty?” Once he spots her, it’s off with the chase, catch, rough play until Kitty Kitty gets tired and takes off. Of course his foster parents use that word “No” again.
When his foster parents are at work, Curious George is left to run in the house. He is housetrained and is good about only chewing on his stuffed toys and not on anything else. He also loves being outside where he can play with his dog buddies. Curious George will make a good watchdog as when he hears strange noises coming from outside, he will let you know he is on guard. He loves to cuddle up with his foster mom or dad and get his belly rubbed, and when you think you are through he will let you know it’s not time to stop. He is also a couch hog, especially when his foster dad wants to lie down to take a nap. Then, Curious George wants to stretch out! Yup, he knows what is comfortable! He loves to go for rides in the car and prefers to stand on the console where the AC is blowing and he can keep an eye on the road– another thing to work on!
Yes, this little character is the perfect pet for a loving home.
