Original: Crayola’s family has had her since she was a puppy. They own a daycare, hence her name. Although wonderful with the kids, Crayola did not get along with the other two female dogs in the house. Her family was concerned that one of the daycare kids might get caught between Crayola and the other dogs during a spat, so they contacted MAESSR and she came into foster care.
Crayola is on the petite side, weighing just 35 pounds. Crayola is very smart and has learned the ropes at her foster home very quickly. She is housebroken and has very nice inside manners. She doesn’t counter-surf or get into the garbage can. Crayola knows all the basic commands and is very responsive. Crayola is crate-trained and has been fine when left for a full day. She was allowed free access in her original home. Cray did not challenge the fence at her original home, but she has been checking out the four foot fence at her foster home. She has not actually tried jumping or climbing it, but she seems to be thinking about it. So, her foster family is supervising her when she is outside until she settles in. Crayola seems anxious riding in the car; it may be that she just has not been in the car very often.
Crayola is getting along fine with her canine foster brothers. She challenged the alpha male when she first arrived; however, he immediately rolled and pinned her down and it’s been all quiet since. It may be best if Cray is an only dog in her forever home. Crayola is timid around human strangers, so it is best to let her approach new people, rather than them making initial overtures to her. There does not seem to be any pattern to what kind of strangers she is wary of.
Does Crayola fit the drawing of your perfect springer? Check her out and see!
