Original: “Cora’s foster mom can sum up this pretty lady with one word — PERFECT!”
Cora was left at a Maryland shelter because her family was moving and could not take her with them. That was the luckiest day of Cora’s life judging from the condition she was in when she got to the shelter. MAESSR volunteers quickly got Cora to a foster home that had experience dealing with severe skin/ear issues.
This is what the vet had to say after her visit: “Cora is a sweet, sweet old girl who has a severe bacterial infection in both ears as well as a severe yeast and bacterial infection of her skin. She has some general arthritis in all of her joints and some superficial slab fractures (asymptomatic) on both of her upper 4th premolars. Her lab work revealed a strong Ehrlichia positive.”
Cora is being treated with antibiotics for her skin and received special meds for her ears. She has been started on a glucosamine supplement to help with her joints. She is on a different antibiotic for treatment of the Ehrlichia.
Although Cora has been in her foster home just a little over a week, she is already a different girl. When she came into MAESSR’s care, her eyes were just like unresponsive “shark eyes.” There was no hope, no excitement in them; now, her eyes are sparkling and she definitely is understanding that life is getting better. Her joints are not as creaky and she has a little bounce to her step.
This SWEET girl is housetrained and has remained accident free even though she has a massive urinary tract infection. She is crate trained, but a crate is not used because her house manners are perfect. Cora loves to ride in the car and be with her people.
Cora’s foster mom can sum up this pretty lady with one word — PERFECT!
