Cooper’s original family reported that heavy work schedules meant Cooper was spending too much time in his crate. So, they listed him in a Maryland Craig’s List ad. That’s how he came to live with his relinquishing family, consisting of a couple and eight special needs children. After two months of living together, Cooper began growling and snapping at the children. The family turned to MAESSR to see if we could find him a home that would be a better fit with Cooper’s personality.
This young Springer is very human focused. He would love to be a lap dog sitting on the couch watching tv beside his owner. Housetrained and trustworthy, Cooper has free roam of the house when his foster family is at work.
Cooper enjoys his walks and does not pull on the leash. When there is no time for a walk, Cooper enjoys a supervised run around his unfenced yard for a little exercise. There is no worry about him running off; he is trusted to stay in his yard. Good boy! He is always up for a ride in the car, too, and is a good passenger.
Cooper likes having the company of other dogs to play with in his foster home. In his previous home, he lived with two cats who stayed in the basement. Cooper reportedly was not very curious about them and made no attempt to get to the basement to chase them.
His visit to the vet made Cooper very anxious but he was not mean about it. The vet felt that Cooper would benefit from receiving an inexpensive medication to help him adapt more quickly to his new living situation. His foster mom thinks it has helped him to settle in to life in his foster home.
Cooper needs a family that will take the time to work with him on his socialization. They will be repaid many times over as Cooper blossoms into a happy, well-adjusted adult Springer.
