When a Maryland breeder decided to close the kennel, MAESSR stepped in to help with the placement of the dogs. Collin was one of the Springers who MAESSR is now placing.
This stunning young Springer has a wonderful temperament. He is a fun-loving, happy puppy who loves living in the house investigating each new sound. He craves attention and adores snuggling with his foster mom.
This handsome boy is learning about leash manners and will need obedience classes to learn acceptable house manners. Collin is quickly learning “sit” and his foster family is working with him on “come.” Note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. Collin will be required to take two series of classes. He will be a quick learner! This formal training will also deepen the bond with his forever family.
Collin’s housetraining is coming along nicely. When his foster family isn’t home, Collin is crated and is content and quiet as he feels extremely safe in his crate. Curious about what is on the kitchen countertops and very food oriented, Collin has shown a propensity for counter-surfing so his foster parents are working on stopping this behavior.
This darling boy loves treats and toys, but would rather be sitting on the lap of his favorite person. Although he has not had the opportunity to meet any children or cats yet, Collin is good with any dogs he has come in contact with.
Collin was great for the groomer although he was a bit intimidated by the other dogs and the dryers. At the vet’s office, he was friendly and happy. His urine sample showed he had a urinary tract infection so he is being treated for that. The vet thought he is at a good weight and that overall he is a healthy little boy.
