When his Pennsylvania family had to move to a new location that did not allow dogs, his family wanted their young Springer to have a wonderful new home, so they relinquished Cocoa to MAESSR.
In his original home, Cocoa lived harmoniously with several children, the youngest being four. Now in his foster home, he has been great with the grandchildren also as young as four. Cocoa is also very good with the resident dogs and cat. Cocoa has a toy stuffed bear he carries around and when the resident Springer decides she wants it, there is a small tug-of-war before Cocoa reluctantly releases the bear and just walks away. He likes to maintain the peace!
A handsome boy with a beautiful, smooth coat, Cocoa came to MAESSR very well-groomed and was reportedly home groomed with no issues. He will let his foster mom clean his ears but is not happy about getting his ear drops for his yeast infection. He was great at the vet’s office and weighed in at 45 pounds.
There has been a mystery at Cocoa’s foster home: a steak went missing from the kitchen counter and there has been a raid on the trash can. Strange, all of this happened since Cocoa arrived! These incidents of counter-surfing and trash can diving are being investigated by his foster family and measures are being taken so that there are no repeats! Cocoa does jump up on his foster mom to greet her but is very gentle. He also pulls while on his leash when out for a walk. His foster parents are working on correcting both of these issues, which should be an easy job because Cocoa listens and obeys very well. He already knows the commands “sit,” “down,” and “stay.”
Although his original owners said Cocoa had some separation anxiety, at his foster home Cocoa has not displayed this behavior. When his foster family is out, he has full run of the house with the resident dogs plus a pet door to a fenced yard. His foster mom attempted to crate Cocoa, but he did not tolerate it well. He has not been destructive when left in the house, not chewing on anything except his toys.
Cocoa loves doing things with his foster family whether riding in the car or just hanging out in the house with them. A Velcro boy, Cocoa does not leave his foster mom’s side, and she has no problem with that because he is such a wonderful little companion. He loves backing up to his foster dad to get a good butt scratching. He also will roll over on his back for a belly rub. Cocoa is an affectionate boy who loves attention.
If you want some sweetness in your life, add Cocoa to your family!
