Update 05/09/2021: “His foster mom would love to find him a home where he could continue his work/training as an alert dog.”
Clyde returned to MAESSR when his owner unexpectedly passed away. Clyde’s first foster family had space available for him and he was happy to go back to a foster home that he knew.
Clyde is all grown up now since he was first adopted. He is housetrained and rides well in the car– just lying down or taking a nap or looking around. In his enthusiasm to be going on a walk, he does pull on the leash initially but does calm down and then walks nicely. Clyde likes to be groomed and is very good for the entire process.
This handsome boy is great with other dogs. His foster mom would strongly recommend that he be placed in a home that has another dog that will play with him.
Clyde loves to be close to his people, too. He is his foster mom’s foot warmer under her desk while she is working.
Clyde is currently taking an inexpensive supplement to help with some mild anxiety. It has helped him relax.
Clyde was being trained as a diabetic alert dog for his previous owner. He was very good at alerting her when her blood sugar would drop to unacceptable levels. He is one special boy. His foster mom would love to find him a home where he could continue his work/training as an alert dog. This extremely sweet, loving boy will be available for adoption soon. He is definitely one of a kind
Original: “He’s very sweet and listens well, even when asked to stop digging.”
Clyde was in two different Pennsylvania shelters after his family found an untrained puppy too much to handle. His second shelter recognized the potential in this sweet boy and contacted MAESSR to find him a forever home.
Clyde is adjusting very well in his foster home and has made fast friends with his new buddies. He was a good boy at the vet and did well with his recent neutering.
He’s very sweet and listens well, even when asked to stop digging.
Good times are ahead for this young man as MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things (and dig). The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. So, handsome Clyde will continue to be taught to listen, stop digging, and learn a host of other commands that will help him become the best Springer that he can be.
