Update 07/11/12:
Clyde continues to do well in his foster home. His foster mom thinks that he is such a good boy, really an ideal dog.
With his foster mom currently sitting for her daughter’s two canines, Clyde has been getting used to living with other dogs. Sometimes the visitors intrude on Clyde’s space and happiness. With a soft grumble, he voices his displeasure. His foster mom is quick to correct this and Clyde is quick to stop. There just seems to something about that little Boston terrier that annoys poor Clyde!
This smart boy exercises himself by running around the exterior of the house; he then comes back inside to cool off from the intense heat. While he is much better walking on leash, there have been few walks during the recent unseasonably hot weather. Thunder scares Clyde and he paces and scratches at the door during storms. His foster mom sits with him and holds him, which calms him down. A little nervous on car rides, Clyde will pant while traveling.
Clyde’s foster mom emphasizes that he is such a sweet boy who has been a perfect house guest because he has impeccable manners. He’s ready for his forever home and would love to share his good nature, wonderful manners and love with a special family. Ready to add Clyde to your pack?
Update 06/12/12:
An adaptable springer, Clyde is adjusting to his new life and will be an excellent dog for any family. At 51 pounds, he’s a good size boy who will likely muscle up from increasing exercise. At home he is going for walks and runs when he can. When visiting his foster family’s farm, he enjoys the freedom to run around fields with the resident dogs.
Clyde’s manners in the house are great so he gets to roam during the day………no counter-surfing, jumping or getting on furniture. He eats twice daily and will give a paw before a meal……….what a gentleman! He sleeps on dog beds, either in the family room by day or in the bedroom with his foster parents at night.
Leashed walking is likely something Clyde hasn’t had much experience with, so he’s working on it with his foster mom. He is also learning not to go after squirrels when on a walk with her. As he settles in, he’s found his voice, and though not a loud or frequent barker, Clyde will occasionally let out a little rumbling howl or a high pitched whine.
More on this sweet, very gentle boy to come……………
Original:
Although Clyde and his sibling Bonnie had lived with their Virginia owners since puppyhood and played well with the owners’ grandchildren, they were too energetic for their elderly owners to handle so they were relinquished to a Virginia shelter. Shelter staff gladly transferred them to MAESSR’s care knowing they would soon have loving new homes.
Clyde is a big lovebug. He craves attention and is just so cute that he gets it from his foster parents and from everyone he meets. There are multiple dogs in Clyde’s foster home and he has done very well with them. In his original home, he and Bonnie were kept in the fenced yard during the day and put in kennels in the basement at night. As much as he does enjoy being outside, it did not take Clyde long to decide he prefers to be inside with the family!
A quick study, Clyde is learning what is expected of him in the living quarters of his house. Although he has had a couple of accidents inside, he has quickly learned that he needs to go outside to tend to business. Crate-trained, Clyde is crated when his foster parents are at work during the day. When they arrive home, Clyde is delighted to see them and then to be let out into the fenced yard where he loves to wander around and sniff for critters.
In his forever home, Clyde will need a little review of leash manners since he does pull on the leash when being walked, especially if he sees a squirrel or a rabbit. He does ok in the car, but he does pant. With a little more practice, his foster mom thinks he will be fine.
This sweetheart will steal your heart! Invite Clyde into your life.
