CJ came to MAESSR when his Virginia family could no longer afford to care for him. He is a big boy at 72 pounds, but according to his foster mom none of that weight is fat. CJ is really sweet. He loves to be groomed and is very good about his daily ear treatments.
At his vet visit last week, it was discovered that CJ is almost completely blind. His foster mom had thought he had some eye issues, but was a little surprised at this news. He has no problems getting around the house, using the doggie door or participating in everything with the other dogs in the household. He even goes for walks in the fields around the farm and hunts for things in the grass. Apparently, someone forgot to tell him he has a problem!
CJ’s house manners are excellent. He loves to ride in the car and he is completely housetrained. He has full run of the house when his foster mom leaves to run errands and at night he sleeps in the bedroom on a dog bed. He gets along with all the dogs and cats in his foster home and is always up for greeting anyone who comes along.
CJ also loves to play fetch in the yard. Yes, he is able to find the ball and bring it back for his foster mom to throw again! At night, he will find a stuffed toy to rest his head on when he curls up on his dog bed for the evening.
As he is feeling better by the day, CJ is beginning to greet his foster mom with a toy in his mouth, which he will throw around trying to get her to play fetch.
