Cilus came to MAESSR from a Pennsylvania shelter where he had been placed after being taken out of a hoarding situation.
This sweet, energetic boy has readily taken to life in foster care. He loves to play with the eleven month old ESS, readily sharing toys with him. He also just likes to carry his toys around in his mouth. Cilus respects the sixteen-year-old resident dog and doesn’t bother him. When his foster parents come home, he greets them with wags and smiles! Cilus is a happy, adaptable (and adoptable) guy!
Housetrained and trustworthy at 19 months, Cilus has full run of the house when his foster parents are at work. He has not been crated and sleeps in the laundry room at night only because he and young resident Springer would play all night! Cilus has no resource guarding issues; his foster mom can take a bone or toy from his mouth without any problem. A fast eater, Cilus is finished with his meal before the other dogs. Although he does not really counter-surf, he has put his paws on the counter while his foster mom is preparing their food. A guy has to see what’s happening!
When Cilus is with his forever family, he would benefit from some obedience training. His foster mom has already been working with him on the basic “sit” and name recognition and she has been having good results. Right now, Cilus does pull when on leash walks, but is better when walking with a harness. He already has riding in the car down pat, though; Cilus is a wonderful passenger. He was also wonderful at the groomer’s. What a good boy!
Cilius’ foster family has great hopes for Cilus in his life ahead. He would like to have an energetic family and room to run. They should enjoy the fact that Cilus is quite the character who likes to chase bugs in the grass and shadows! He likes to hug and kiss and would like someone to curl up with him. Looking at Cilus’ picture, you will see that this sweet boy has a diamond marking on the top of his head. He, indeed, is a diamond in the rough right now. Do you have room in your heart for this sweet boy? Do you have the time and commitment to help him develop his potential? Cilus has a lot of love to share!
