Original: Chuckie was surrendered to MAESSR because his New Jersey family felt he was too headstrong for them. He has been a really good boy in his foster homes and responds well to positive training methods. His foster mom would recommend a beginning obedience class for this sweetie to help with training and bonding. Chuckie has fairly good manners now, but a little improvement would not hurt. When on a walk, he gets excited and does pull on the leash. In the car, he is a very good passenger. Chuckie had lived as an outside dog prior to coming to MAESSR. Unfortunately, this means that he will have an occasional accident in the house. Chuckie is a smart boy and is learning quickly that this is not acceptable.
When he went to the vet for a check-up, Chuckie tested highly positive for Lyme’s disease. He has not shown any symptoms, though, so it not being treated. Symptoms of the disease include lethargy and stiffness in the joints and he may never display any of these symptoms. If he does display them, the vet would just treat him with 30 days of an inexpensive antibiotic. This should not be a big worry for his newly adoptive home. He is very healthy in all other regards.
This active youngster loves to run, swim, play with the kids, play ball and just be with you. He has a very sweet, soft personality and wants to please his people. Chuckie is a wonderful Springer “puppy” that needs a family with the patience to help him grow up.
