When Chloe’s New Jersey owner went into an assisted living situation, the owner’s sister took this love but, with many pets of her own and a busy lifestyle, soon realized that Chloe would be better off finding a home where she could be the center of attention again. Since Miss C had lived her whole life with one adult (and a bird), she is a bit shy meeting people and may find small children running at her to be scary. Reportedly Chloe has had some ear infections in the past, and a history of urinary crystals, controlled with a specific diet.
When this pretty young lady first showed up in foster care, a fourteen month old Springer foster was in the same home. Although she didn’t appreciate his interest, she just walked away and didn’t argue with him. The day he was adopted, she immediately showed a more relaxed attitude and picked up her first toy to start playing. She does fine with the indifferent resident hounds. Completely housetrained, this cute little full-tailed gal knows “sit,” “beg” (sit up like a bunny with both paws in the air), “down,” and “Bang” where she drops and rolls. Her foster folks think that this last behavior is a cruel thing to even fake, but ask her to do it occasionally. Afterwards she gets so much attention as an apology that she doesn’t seem to mind!
Because of her easy manner, Chloe is given the run of the downstairs and not crated at night. She occasionally sneaks up on the futon with little reprimand because she looks so guilty about it. She is gated away from the resident dogs when eating because she’ll finish her meal and go to see if she can find unguarded bowls afterwards. She instantly does her business on leash or in the fenced yard, but enjoys a walk afterwards. She pulls a bit when starting out, but, who wouldn’t with all those neat smells in her path? This low energy shadow indoors shows no hint of separation anxiety and is a really easy girl to have around. Outside, her flag of a full tail wags away while exploring new situations. No bad habits like counter-surfing or trash diving for this polite little gal. She doesn’t care if her person picks up her bowl while she’s eating, but, if her folks forget that it’s 6:00 p.m. and her bowl is still empty, she’s more than willing to carry it into the room and put it at their feet.
Chloe doesn’t mind car rides but reverts to her, “Oh I’m shy and just here in the back” mode so that her foster folks are forced to tell her what a good girl she is. She’s ignored several severe storms without flinching other than to agree with the resident dogs that “holding it” until the rain lets up is a good idea. She seems to love being groomed and has the attitude of, “Look, attention!” What a deal!!
The new girl in town does not play Alpha Dog, but loves attention and serially shadowing whichever human is close by. She would love to have a home of her own, dog wise, or at least not have a doggy companion who insists on interaction. She’s super sweet and always quietly nearby. Her adoptive family will have to always check behind their chairs before backing up so they don’t bump her because, although one rarely knows she’s there, she does her best to be nearby. Doesn’t Chloe sound like a wonderful, peaceful addition to almost any home?
