Original: “Chipper is a sweet, snuggly boy with a lot of energy. He loves to run and rarely walks if he can help it.”
A few years ago, Chipper’s Georgia owners got him from a co-worker who had kept him crated most of the time. This co-worker decided that Chipper should be taken to the shelter since he did not have time for him. That’s when his loving second family took him in. Now, the husband’s 85 year old mother is moving in with them. She is unsteady on her feet and that would not be a good combination with a crazy young Springer boy. So, they asked MAESSR to help.
Chipper is a sweet, snuggly boy with a lot of energy. He loves to run and rarely walks if he can help it. He loves to play with squeaky toys which he immediately tries to tear apart for that wonderful squeaker! With any piece of fabric that he can find, Chipper rolls on his back with his prize, kicking his feet in the air and wiggling to scratch his back! And water, did someone say, “Water”? Chipper thinks that playing in the water is just the BEST!!! Then when the water play is over, he gets rubbed down with a towel. Life just doesn’t get any better!
This fun-loving, active boy is housetrained. He used to be crate trained but now cries and tries to get out if left in the crate. Although Chipper is a counter-surfer, the good news is, you can take anything from him. He will also get down if you tell him to do so. Chipper does settle down at night and likes to sleep with his people. He was a really good boy at his vet appointment too.
Chipper had been taught by his previous owners to flap his front paws when he wants something. He flaps them very fast. He knows the commands “sit,” “stay,” ‘turn around,” and “sit down” to have his leash put on. Once he is outside on his leashed walk, prepare to have your arm stretched since he pulls on the leash because he is so excited to see what is happening.
MAESSR is going to require two series of obedience classes for Chipper and his new owners. He has not had any formal training and this with help him with the skills needed to be a wonderful member of a family.
Chipper is looking for a family with a lot of energy and love to share with this happy Springer boy.
