Original: Chip is a wonderfully smart and sweet Springer boy. He was purchased as a gift from one family member for a father-in-law when it seemed that he needed company. Unfortunately, as occasionally happens, a dog was not the right choice. Chip has lived his whole life, except for the last month, chained to a doghouse. For the past month, he has lived with a son and daughter-in-law in their fenced-in backyard. He is very active and keeps jumping the fence. This sweetie is lonesome for company and is going to the neighbor’s house where there is another dog that he really likes to play with. The people chose to relinquish him, feeling that he needed a home where he could be a part of the family.
In his foster home, Chip is learning the joys of living inside. So far, he had learned how to behave in a crate and his foster parents are working on the housebreaking issue with him. His foster mom does not believe it will take long because he is such a smart boy. Chip jumped the fence one time at his foster home because he wanted to come inside! His foster mom told him what a bad boy he was for jumping the fence and he has not done it again. Yes, this one is very smart!
Although he does not give it back very well right now, Chip loves to play fetch with a tennis ball. He loves to ride in the car and is well mannered as a passenger. Chip pulls when walked on a leash and the only command he knows is “sit.” In short, it seems that Chip has had little or no training. Chip’s foster mom STRONGLY recommends an obedience class for this youngster with his adopting family. It will be a wonderful bonding tool and will give Chip a roadmap for what is expected of him.
Chip wants to be with his people and to please them in every way. He gets so excited to be loved on, that his entire body quivers from his nose to the tip of his tail. Someone will be getting a diamond in the rough when they bring this boy into their family. He is going to be awesome with just a little work!
