Chester was turned in to the Madison County Shelter after being found standing on a median strip. A friendly boy, he was completely matted, covered with ticks and has some untended hot spots. The shelter gave him his shots, neutered him and called us. After his foster mom bathed and clipped him, she found a tattoo on his inner thigh. We called several registries, but, sadly, we have not been able to find his owners. So, we will be finding a home for him.
Chester is a great dog who loves everyone he’s met. He has not been exposed to kids which is the only limit we would put on him. He is housebroken, loves other dogs, and after a good snuff – ignored the cat. Chester loves tennis balls. He will play fetch until he drops. He loves to lay in the pool with a tennis ball in his mouth.
His previous family might have taught him to play catch, but they didn’t teach him much else. He knows how to sit and that is about it. He does pull on a leash. He would benefit greatly from an obedience class.
Chester is ready to go. He’s happy, healthy, and ready for a new home.
Chester has gone to a great home who is simply thrilled to have him.
Update:
From his adoptive home:
I wanted to get an update on the web site for Chester as a happy ending. He is doing great, I need to bring him out to see you and your family. You would have to get me directions out there again. He has an enormous amount of energy and tennis ball dedication. After a year with him in our family, we can’t imagine life without him. Even the cats adore him, they will rub on him until he gives them a complete bath. We limit his amount of time he spends with tennis balls since his teeth are worn down so. He is a constant companion with whom ever is at home, this includes but not limited to visits to the bathroom. Can’t remember the last time I got peace in the bathroom. He is very happy and enjoys his life. He loves going to the park. We sneak his collar off when there is no one there so he can take a quick dip with the ducks. He barks; they swim away. He barks louder…. Fortunately, they swim faster than he does. But without a tennis ball strung around their necks he probably wouldn’t bother with them, but they are neat to swim with.
