Chelsea came into MAESSR’s care from a shelter in West Virginia where she had been picked up as a stray. Although not much is known about her past, her foster family reports that she has been a wonderful house guest! Chelsea is calm around people and LOVES to snuggle with adults and children alike.
Housetrained, Chelsea is dependable overnight and had been fine for up to five hours at a time when her foster parents are at work. Then, she has been given free run of the house with few problems. Things may be moved around in the house when her foster parents return home, though, since Chelsea loves to carry and move things around– shoes, books and various household items! A house full of chew toys is highly recommended for Chelsea when she is alone!
Although Chelsea can be crated, it is not her favorite place to be. She would like to sleep with her human companions in their bed, but with some coaxing she will sleep on the floor. In the kitchen, her foster parents don’t have to worry about Chelsea getting into the garbage or counter-surfing. She has good house manners! Good girl! As a youngster, Chelsea will benefit from going to obedience training since she has very limited knowledge of commands. MAESSR requires adopters of Springers a year and younger to take their new, four-legged family members for obedience training.
Chelsea loves to roam in the backyard with the resident dogs; however, when the neighbor’s young lab comes over, she is ready to run and play rough and tumble with him. When playtime is done and there is an invitation to ride in the car, Chelsea is ready to go! She is a great rider and loves to go for a drive. Or, if children stop by, Chelsea is ready to play. Her foster dad says she is amazing with all children and he is sure she would love to have some in her new home. Having a playful canine companion in her forever home would be fun for Chelsea, too. She is even very good around her food bowl even with the other dogs around. She has no qualms about people touching his food bowl either. With her ears still hurting, Chelsea is not fond of getting them cleaned, but that may change once they start to feel better.
What this sweet girl needs is a nice, loving family. Is she a match for you?
