Checkers 2 is a sweet older gentleman from South Carolina with perfect house manners. His foster mom said he is almost too good to be true! He is an easygoing dog who loves to be with his people. It is hard to believe that his original owners no longer wanted him!
The vet says that Checkers is in great health now. Earlier, he had heartworm disease, but now his treatment is complete. Heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives, Checkers never has to worry about this disease again. Another rescue organization initially came to Checkers’ aid and took care of some needed dental work for him as some of his teeth are missing or ground down. He is set to go into his forever home with a clean bill of health.
Checkers has lovely house manners: he is great on a leash, does not wander off when off leash, and is docile and submissive, even to cats! He knows his commands, and he is house-trained. Whether sitting or sleeping, Checkers wants to be with his foster mom wherever she is. This good boy does not chew, counter-surf, jump on people, or bark. He loves car rides and mostly just wants to be petted.
If you are looking for a dog with a low-to-moderate-energy level to be your companion, Checkers could be the one. He craves love and attention, so he would love to live with someone retired or someone who would be home most of the day. Checkers would also like a companion dog in his forever home.
While Checkers’ foster mom has had a lot of foster dogs, she is very attached to this charming boy and says that he is special. If you are looking for a constant, loving companion, look no further than this gentleman!
