Original: “Her foster mom took her to the family dinner on Christmas Day and Charlotte did great, playing with the dog, cats, and children, then finding a lap when she was tired.“
A good friend of MAESSR’s, familiar with the work we do, asked us to rehome Charlotte when there was a death in her Virginia family and the remaining family members could no longer care for her.
After recovering from her spay surgery, Charlotte has settled in to her foster home with no problems. Her housetraining has begun and so far is going very well considering her age. Although Charlotte has not caught on yet to signaling her need to go out, she understands what is being asked when taken outside and readily complies. As with most small dogs, she is then ready to return to the warm house.
Charlotte sleeps in a crate at night and eats in her crate at meal times. Her house manners have been excellent so far. She will get up on the sofa, as she wants to be with people and she will take a toy to one of the sofas to play with it so the bigger dogs won’t take it from her. Despite her small size, this little girl loves to play with tennis balls and will even bring them back to her foster mom to throw again. Charlotte is a very smart little girl!
This polite youngster is respectful of the older permanent foster in the house who is not too fond of small active dogs. She will play with the other younger foster, taking charge of the play until they have had enough and go outside. There is a doggie door to the large yard in her foster home, but she has not begun to use it yet.
Foster mom gave her a bath once she had recovered from spaying and Charlotte was very good, although not thrilled. When at the vet on the day she came to MAESSR, she had her nails trimmed with no problem. They had no problems with her at all, as this little girl has never met a stranger and loves everyone!
Charlotte does well on the leash and loves going for walks and riding in the car. She is always ready to go! Her foster mom took her to the family dinner on Christmas Day and Charlotte did great, playing with the dog, cats, and children, then finding a lap when she was tired.
This sweet girl would fit in almost anywhere. Consider adding Charlotte to your family!
