Charlotte is a beautiful lady who was found with her companion, Samantha, in an abandoned home in North Carolina. She was taken in and cared for by a brother and sister who nursed her back to good health and then turned to MAESSR for help with finding a permanent home for her.
Charlotte is 60 pounds and the vet thinks she is 5-6 years old. She has a skin condition that her foster family is working on with her. The vet believes that it was originally caused by an allergic reaction and had then become infected. Her temporary caregivers did a great job helping her recover and the antibiotics she is now taking seem to be preventing new outbreaks. Charlotte is wonderful while she is bathed with medicated shampoo and conditioner every 4 days.
Though a bit shy at first, Charlotte soon becomes your closest companion. She is fine with cats although she really doesn’t think they deserve any special attention. She is very close with Samantha and friendly with her 2 new dog friends in foster care. Charlotte loves touching noses with the horses at her foster home and will often spend the day laying under a tree next to the pasture fence. If a squirrel needs to be chased, she will do the job but she quickly returns when she hears her name. She is trusted off leash but will walk calmly on the leash. She ignores other dogs when walking but will follow Samantha if Samantha decides to approach.
Charlotte is wonderful with children. She has played with a group of 4 children, ranging in ages from 4 to 10, and was quite the babysitter. She is always sweet but is amazingly calm for a Springer. The vet was very impressed with her good manners and commented on her wonderful nature.
Charlotte is not crate-trained but would probably adjust quickly. She does not signal to go out but has not had an accident with regular intervals outside. She travels quietly in the car although she will get carsick if she eats immediately before a trip. She enjoys bones and stuffed animals but nothing is nicer than a human hand constantly rubbing her head.
Such a sweetheart this one is and a wonderful companion for the family that makes her their own………
