Original: Charlie Timms and his pal Pepper were picked up as strays in Western PA and when their owner was contacted, he said he did not want them back. Both boys were in the shelter for several weeks and while there Charlie Timms was neutered and brought up to date on his vaccinations.
Charlie Timms fits easily into the pack of four other dogs in his foster home. No one was remotely threatened by him nor was Charlie Timms. It’s like he’s always lived there. He waits patiently for his dinner bowl which comes to him last of all the dogs. When he arrived at his foster home, CT’s foster mom gave him the full spa treatment. When she bathed him, he stood perfectly still and really seemed to enjoy being lathered up. He was also good while being groomed even when he had his ears shaved with the clippers.
CT is housetrained and will go to the door when he has to go out. He has had one accident in his foster home and it was right in front of the door so his foster mom must have missed his signals. CT stays in his crate when his foster mom leaves for work, but he would prefer to be given limited access with another dog. He will scratch the door if his foster mom goes out the front door without him. He does cry when first left, but when his foster mom sneaks back all is quiet so he does settle down. Charlie Timms has confidence in the house and with his people, but he still has flashes of insecurity. In his new home, he would do well with another dog in the house and with parents who are home most of the time.
CT sleeps on his dog bed off to the side at the foot of his foster mom’s bed. He sleeps through the night a full eight hours with no problem. His foster family is sure he would prefer to sleep on the bed and on the couch, but he’s being taught not to jump on the furniture. So far, he hasn’t really listened to “off.” Instead, he has to be picked up or given a treat to entice him off the furniture. He will work for treats! CT knows “sit” and “shake” but so far only obeys these commands when there’s food around. He would definitely benefit from an obedience class in his new home. Charlie is perfect in the car, though. He curls up on the passenger seat or sits and looks out the window.
Charlie Timms does not seem to like children. He prefers to stay away from them and his foster family is guessing there was a rough child in his past. He likes both men and women. When he meets people, Charlie Timms loves to sit on their feet to solicit his favorite ear rubs and bum scratching. Because he’s such a petite Springer, at just about 27 pounds, his foster mom picks him up and carries him like a baby. He lies in her arms for belly rubs and looks so contented that he closes his eyes and practically smiles! This lap dog is a great snuggler and likes to be touching his people whenever possible. Is your lap looking for a warmer?
