Original: A stray from eastern Pennsylvania, Charlie is a very happy, free spirit who has a lot of energy and who loves to play and run. He is very happy to be in a home once more. Although he slept the first night in the crate and was good all night, his foster mom and dad do not crate him anymore as he has no destructive habits. Housetrained, Charlie gets along well with his resident springer foster brothers and he has full run of the house with them during the day when his foster parents are at work. He currently sleeps in their bedroom with his foster brothers.
Charlie loves to play and rough-house and he especially enjoys rope toys. He also considers himself a lap dog and loves to jump on the couch or chair with his human companions. He is very sweet. He allows his foster mom to handle him all over– even his beautiful full tail– and he allows food to be taken from him. He will release anything in his mouth when asked. Charlie will surf to see and smell what is up on the counter, but so far, he has never taken anything. However, due to his 24” height (a result of being a carelessly bred field springer), his foster mom makes sure he is never left alone with food on the counter. Charlie doesn’t beg from the table and he is not obsessed with food. His food is left down in the dish all day and he will only eat when he is hungry. He doesn’t steal food from his foster brothers, either.
He is a lover, not a fighter! Charlie gets along great with other dogs. He is submissive and will back away from his foster brothers when they bark or try to take a toy away from him. Charlie needs training on the leash as well as basic obedience training, but he appears eager to please. He knows a few basic commands but forgets them when he is excited. Jumping up with excitement when his foster parents return home from work, Charlie loves his people! He loves to snuggle up on the couch with his foster mom or dad at the end of the day when allowed. He is also a good passenger on car rides.
Charlie would love to have an active family who will run and play with him and who will devote some time to his obedience training. In return, Charlie will give his undying love and devotion to his new family.
