Original: Charlie is a healthy, smart boy who was relinquished by his family through no fault of his own. He enjoys a good road trip and is a terrific passenger. He is housebroken and learning to be crate-trained, though he’s not crazy about the crate just yet. A crate is only used when his foster family leaves home. The rest of the time, Charlie enjoys having run of the house. If left at home alone, he does best when he has the company of another dog.
Quite the adaptable boy, Charlie seems to like everyone and everything. He enjoys playing with his foster brother, who sometimes tires of the fun and games and hides under the bed. By contrast Charlie never grows weary of playtime. He loves his toy squirrel and enjoys chasing real squirrels too. In his former family, he lived with children, including a 3-year-old, other dogs, and cats and reportedly did well with everyone. Since in foster care, he has met children as young as 6 and did fine. He shows no aggressive behavior at all, but because Charlie has lots of energy and is a fairly big boy, he may do best with children who are school age.
As a house guest, Charlie does very nicely. He has no bad habits, aside from being quite curious about the kitchen trash can. He tipped it over once but clearly knows better. He is not really a counter surfer but did try that once. He does not get on furniture but would love to be invited onto the bed or couch. He is sensitive to verbal correction.
In typical Springer fashion, Charlie follows his people from room to room and bonds easily with both men and women. He is a real love bug and likes to sit beside his person. Given the chance he will sit on his foster mother’s foot while she dries her hair. He even sat on the vet’s foot and was wonderful with the vet’s staff. He was also a very good boy for the groomer.
Charlie is a dog who prefers the company of people. He always comes when called, even when he’s outside. He is a very active boy and needs daily exercise, but he calms down appropriately. He is learning to walk on a leash and making progress. He loves walks, running, and really loves playing with other dogs. He has a funny habit of watching light and shadows, he sometimes chases moving light. This behavior is not a problem and at times, it can even be entertaining.
Charlie is a very smart boy who will be a loving, loyal, family member. He has a great big heart which makes him a wonderful companion. He’s willing to warm your feet all through the cold winter months and your heart all year round. Ask about being part of Charlie’s new beginning.
