Casey is a loving, sweet girl who was relinquished to MAESSR due to a divorce in her family. She has been in 3 homes in her 5 years. When 5 months old, she was hit by a car, and soon after, was sold to a breeder. There she had several litters of puppies. One of her puppies was Bonnie who was later adopted through MAESSR. Casey was sold to her last family in 2003. She lived with a young child in that home. Through all these changes, she has remained a happy, trusting girl who does not have a mean bone in her body.
Casey weighs 55 pounds. She has beautiful markings and very curly ears. She is housebroken and does not need to be crated while her foster mom is out. Casey does sleep in a crate on a fluffy bed next to her foster mom’s bed at night. She will snore away until one of her foster siblings wakes her in the morning.
Casey has established a bossy position with the female and male springers in the foster home and also at daycare. When being walked alone, she does not pull on the leash, but when walking with the other Springers, she wears a halti headcollar. She rides great in a car and settles down to sleep within minutes of starting on a journey. She does not counter surf, trash pick or chew inappropriately. Casey will attempt to get on the sofa, but retreats as soon as she is told “off”.
She is great with the 3 senior cats in her foster home. Casey will chase tennis balls nonstop. If she is ignored, she will race around the ball in circles barking. In order for her foster mom to get any rest, she must hide the ball! Casey does not engage in any other form of play. When at the dog park, she ignores the other dogs and focuses entirely on her tennis ball fetching. She had one exhausting day at doggie daycare where she became very fond of a 100 pound boxer.
Casey is a one trick dog, that is, she sits for treats! She does not understand that rawhides and chewies are for her pleasure and will stare at them until the resident female steals them away. Casey is a wonderful and loving girl, looking for a FOREVER home!
