Original: “No stranger to good house manners, Casey is housetrained and, although she has had no formal obedience training, she knows ‘sit,’ ‘stay,’ ‘down,’ and ‘roll over.’ ”
Casey was surrendered to MAESSR when her Maryland family no longer had the time for her that she deserved. With all but one of the children now out of the house and both owners working, it was felt that Casey would have a better life with another family.
No stranger to good house manners, Casey is housetrained and, although she has had no formal obedience training, she knows “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “roll over.” As a puppy, Casey used a crate, but she barked and whined in the crate and doesn’t use one now. Because she is trustworthy, she has full run of the house. This good girl does not chew inappropriately and she does not counter-surf or beg for food; however, she watches in case any food might come her way! She has no separation anxiety or submissive urination. Wow! What a good girl!
Because she grew up with children, Casey is comfortable with them. In fact, around toddlers, Casey has always been gentle. Cautious about visitors, Casey would bark when people came to her former home. She would hide behind her owners or a piece of furniture while barking. She also barks at people when she’s out for a walk, but other than the barking, Casey shows more timid, rather than aggressive, behavior. She also has been known to chase other animals. Once she reportedly chased a small dog that was in her front yard. When Casey got to the dog, she just stopped as if she didn’t know quite what to do next. So, typical for Casey is barking, and then stopping, when she is nervous about a situation.
On leash, Casey is a bit of a puller. She has never been on a long car ride but she is quiet in the car for short trips. When it comes to playing, Casey likes to play with toys if someone will join her. Her version of playing ball, however, is chasing it down without returning it. She would much rather have someone chase her!
Typically, Casey was shaved down three or four times per year. She always behaved quite nicely and had no problems having her ears or feet handled.
Casey would fit nicely in to most households. This good girl would certainly enjoy loving and being loved by children. And she’s hoping her new family has someone who is up for a good game of chase!
