Original: In just one week at his foster home, Casey has achieved rock star status in the neighborhood! All the kids, and even some adults on the block, come running and call out his name when he is in the yard. Happy Casey wiggles his butt like Elvis for his appreciative audience.
This fellow entered MAESSR’s care after an elderly couple decided he was too much dog for them. They had adopted him from a shelter where he was surrendered by a family whose son lost interest in him. Once in his foster home, Casey visited the vet and proved to be in the pink of health. He is having a slight problem with allergies due to the proximity to woods where his foster home is located. He is getting medicated baths and a little ointment in his eyes to help with this. It should all clear up once he is adopted.
Casey is a smart, alert, and very sensitive dog. He is housebroken and non-aggressive about food and everything else. He doesn’t jump on people or get on furniture. He has lived with cats, kids, dogs, and thoroughly enjoys playing with the two resident German shorthair pointers. He likes to play fetch, although he does not exactly bring the ball all the way back. Both parties get exercise! Casey is very obedient and knows basic commands. He is good on leash, although he gets a little excited at the start when he realizes a new adventure is about to begin. He adores car rides and is well behaved. At night he either sleeps on his big cushy bed or on the foot of his foster mom’s bed. In the afternoons he likes to snooze with the resident dogs in his foster mom’s bed in her bedroom/office.
His foster mom has observed Casey “hanging ten” on the counter and knows he would dabble in the trash if given a chance. He is afraid of loud noises. He is not crate trained, having become extremely anxious while in one. However, there is absolutely no reason why he needs to be. He can be left alone in the house as he’s not at all destructive. He needs to be watched at open doors and gates because he is an escape artist, but that is being worked on.
Casey is not overly active but would love to be part of an active family. He would very much enjoy joining in on family vacations, going to the kids’ baseball games, or curling up to watch a DVD with everyone. He loves being with people! To the discerning eye, this boy is just longing for a family to call his very own. He is a sweet, gentle soul. Casey is such a terrific dog that he deserves to be spoiled rotten for the rest of his life. Wouldn’t you like to be the one to spoil this one?
