Update 04/07/12:
Carly’s tenacious urinary tract infection is trying hard to hang on, but it is close to being eradicated. This is the only thing keeping Carly from being available to prospective adoptive families.
Despite her foster mom’s watchful eye, this rascal continues to find items on the counter interesting and potentially edible. Case in point: a ladybug-shaped candle that Carly found appealing as a snack! Her forever family will need to be vigilant in keeping enticing items away from this inquisitive girl. Carly is a grazer, too; when outside, she enjoys munching on clover and chrysanthemum leaves. Perhaps this is to cleanse her palate after certain “snacks”……
So comfortable is Carly in her foster home, she frequently is found lounging among all of her foster mom’s bed pillows. Certainly they were put there for her benefit!
Keep posted for Carly’s status. Once this sweet girl becomes available, it shouldn’t be long before some lucky family claims her for their own.
Update 03/02/12:
Life is good for Carly and bringing memorable moments along the way. She attended a pet expo as an ambassador for MAESSR with her foster family and seemed to like it. She was a natural at greeting any one and every one who stopped by the table for info on springers!
At home Carly doesn’t care much for her crate and has enjoyed free run of the house, but that may have to stop. During a recent counter-surfing adventure, she hit a stove knob and smoked up her foster home………:((. Her family took this misadventure in stride but also hope it will be the last excitement for quite a while! When the aroma of burnt popcorn cleared, Carly was given the dubious nickname of “pyro dog”…………:)).
Carly likes visiting her vet which is a good thing; her UTI seems to be holding on so treatment continues. It is the only thing between her and an adopting family. She has classic ESS beauty and an outgoing personality. Finding a family will not take long once Carly and her vet whip this minor health issue!
Update 01/23/12:
Carly has settled in nicely to a new foster home and has learned to navigate the steps, which is a must in her new digs. She sleeps in the bed with her foster mom, and it’s a race to see who gets to the pillow first!
An occasional accident in the house indicates that Carly’s urinary tract infection is not completely gone, but her foster mom feels that it is close to being cleared up. More importantly, Carly is learning to signal when she has to go out. She is looking great and appears to have slimmed down a bit.
Since she is not a fan of her crate, her foster mom is testing freedom to roam with Carly. She loves to ride in the car and thinks that any time the door opens it is time to go for a ride! After returning from work, Carly’s foster mom helps out at a foundation and Carly accompanies her there. After checking out the premises, Carly sits quietly at her foster mom’s feet. What a good girl!
Keep posted on Carly’s progress. This pretty girl should be ready for her forever home soon.
Original:
Carly became a MAESSR girl because her Virginia family was experiencing financial difficulties and could not continue to care for her. She stepped into her foster home like she had lived there forever. She met all of the resident dogs and was extremely well-behaved. Her good manners extended to the people she met in her foster home too and enabled her to step out with her family for a very special MAESSR event shortly after her arrival. Carly attended the Stocker’s festive fundraising Christmas party in Williamsburg, Virginia and was a BIG hit with everyone.
Carly rides well in the car and walks very nicely on a leash. She is crate-trained which is helpful as she needs a little remedial work on house training. Carly is great for grooming and will let you brush and fuss over her for hours. She will occasionally try to counter surf, but what self-respecting Springer doesn’t in this season of culinary delights? Her savvy family has kept one step ahead of her in keeping goodies out of reach and hope that since she has not been successful yet, she will stop trying!
This precious Springer just wants love and attention. She cannot get close enough to the people around her or spend enough time with them. Carly has never met a stranger. If you are looking for a wonderfully sweet, cuddle bug, Carly is the one for you.
