Original: “Callie maneuvers around everything and everyone in her foster home like she has 20/20 vision. Occasionally, she will bump into something, but even that does not rattle her.”
Sweet little Callie the Cocker came to MAESSR from another rescue group in Pennsylvania that felt that MAESSR might have better luck finding her a wonderful forever home.
Since she has come to her foster home, Callie has won the hearts of all she has met—especially her foster mom who thinks she is “the sweetest, nicest little girl you will find anywhere!” She has been around people of all ages while in her foster home and has loved each and every person she has met. Everyone that meets her cannot believe what a really nice girl she is. Callie is in a foster home with multiple other dogs and has been wonderful with all of them. She had lived with cats in her previous foster home and thought they were great.
Housetrained and crated trained, Callie has wonderful house manners. At night she sleeps in the bed with her foster parents. The middle of the bed is her favorite spot so she can be touching both of her foster parents. Don’t think that her blindness holds her back. She can jump on and off of the bed with no problem. Callie maneuvers around everything and everyone in her foster home like she has 20/20 vision. Occasionally, she will bump into something, but even that does not rattle her. She learned how to use the doggie door in less than 30 minutes. Her foster mom is constantly amazed by how adaptable she is.
Callie is currently being treated for a severe urinary tract infection. Once she has completed the antibiotics, she will be retested to ensure the infection has cleared. She also had a dental to clean up her teeth which were showing severe dental disease. The teeth cleaned up beautifully and did not required any extractions. Her vet confirmed that Callie has bilateral cataracts which render her essentially blind. Again, she does not let that slow her down in any way. She will go into the back yard with all of the other dogs and do everything they can do.
Some extremely lucky family is going to get one of the sweetest, cuddliest, fantastic little girls that her foster mom has seen in a long time.
