Original: When a Maryland breeder lost interest in Springers, Caleb and kennel mate Sugar came into MAESSR’s care. Although Sugar was in very poor condition, young Caleb’s youth and limited time with his previous owner have given him a much better start in life as he is a healthy boy.
Full of Springer puppy fun, Caleb has become a favorite in his foster home with both the humans and the resident canines. He loves to run and play with the adult Springers, and he respects the corrections they place upon him when he gets too rambunctious. Although he plays hard, Caleb also loves to be near his foster parents for cuddling and loving. Tummy rubs and ear scratches feel so good!
Caleb is making good progress with housetraining in the short time he has been in foster care. Crate training is also going well despite some initial fussing at being confined. With a good chew toy in his crate with him, Caleb passes the time quietly now and, of course, he gets some much-needed puppy sleep time while his foster family is at work. As with all MAESSR puppies a year or younger, Caleb’s future forever family will be required to take him to at least one set of obedience classes. Having a well-trained puppy will set the foundation for a lifetime of safety and good communication within the forever family for both Springer and human family members. Caleb is sure to be the star pupil in his obedience classes since he is a smart boy who learns quickly.
In Hebrew, the name Caleb means faithful, like a dog. Just like his name implies, Caleb will be a faithful and loving Springer for some lucky family.
