Updated 9/19/05: The outcome of Buster’s visit to the vet is that he is in good health. He is currently being treated for a minor skin infection and will be done with that shortly.
Buster recently attended a large gathering of the MAESSR family. The day-long event included lots of people of all ages and, of course, lots of springers of all ages. Buster charmed everyone and, in fine springer form, conveyed to all that just being loved is the most important thing in his life.
Original: Buster is a really sweet boy who has had some training in his previous home. His foster mom has verified that he knows “sit,” “down,” and “stay” commands and she is still working with him to see what else he has been taught. Buster walks well on a leash and is house trained. He will sniff at the garbage, but so far, he has not done more than that……good dog!
There are 9 foster siblings in Buster’s MAESSR home and he gets along with all of them. His only possible quirk is that he will growl and bark at another dog if it approaches his crate when he has a treat or food. He is fine out of the crate when a dog approaches him. For this reason, Buster’s foster mom would recommend that he not be placed with children under the age of 12.
When playing with children, Buster shines. He has played with his foster mom’s four-year-old grandson and did well, but he really enjoyed the 13-year-old neighbor child who came to visit with him. Buster’s foster mom has not found any toys that he will play with, but he loves to run around the yard, sniffing and chasing with the other dogs.
Buster came into MAESSR’s care through no fault of his own. After his owner passed away, remaining family could not care for him, so they turned him into a Virginia shelter. More info will be posted on Buster after his vet appointment and as his fostering family gets to know what all Buster knows and will want in his forever home.
