Buster has spent most of his life itching & scratching; it appears that he has food allergies. Buster is being given up because it is becoming increasingly difficult for the family to deal with this. Buster is on a special diet (and does well with it) but if he gets anything else he will immediately begin to itch & scratch. He does not beg for food or counter surf, but if food gets dropped he will eat it. He has been through chicken, lamb and salmon-based diets and is now on z/d Ultra Allergen Free Dog Food (about $40 for a 30# bag).
Buster is good with kids and toddlers. He lives with children that are now 11, 9 & 4. He plays well with the many neighborhood dogs and is good with cats. He was crate-trained when younger but has not been crated for the last six months or so. He is given free run of the house and sleeps under the bed at night. He is housebroken, doesn’t chew (except for an occasional plastic kid’s toy), doesn’t dig, and only barks at some dogs walking by his yard but never barks when in the house. He walks well on the leash (but quickly) and is good off leash. Buster has never been to obedience classes but knows sit, come, down (sometimes) and paw. Buster does jump on people when they first come into the house but will eventually settle down. He behaves well in the car.
He is ok at with getting a bath, cleaning his ears (doesn’t love it but tolerates it), getting his toenails clipped and feet wiped. He loves to be brushed. He has been professionally groomed a few times and was fine for the groomer.
Buster likes to play with balls. He will chase them but doesn’t always bring them back. He also likes squeaky toys and being with his family.
Buster is looking for a family that can make sure he doesn’t get the wrong food and wants a faithful friend for life. Is that you?
Update 7/15/03:
Buster has found a wonderful family to love and dote on him.
