Email we received froma very kind-hearted person:
Dear MAESSR,
I recently found a puppy that had been abandoned at six-weeks in an alley in DC. He was dirty, thin, flea and tick ridden, had welts on his skin, and was crying next to a pile of plywood. I brought him home to clean him up, and he spent the rest of the day with the veterinarians and nurses. He is a wonderful dog who is learning very quickly and getting bigger and healthier every day. I have decided to name him Buster.
I would like to ask for your help in placing Buster. I have decided to care for him until a good home is found, and I have already started him on a pretty great schedule since I found him. He goes to doggie day care during the day while I’m at work, and comes with me wherever I go at night. Since I also have another dog (a black lab named Ginger), he has a built-in playmate most of the time. I have a cat too, but in the grand tradition of most dog-cat relationships, they don’t seem to get along very well.
Buster is a very typical puppy. I don’t want to give him to just anyone because I want to make sure that they know how to handle life with a puppy. To be honest, Buster whines almost all of the time and wakes up several times during the night. He is doing much better now than before (most likely from the abandonment issues he developed), but he is still in the puppy stages and is learning how to be crate-trained and obedience-trained. He already knows how to fetch a tennis ball even though it is the size of his head. At day care, Buster has become friends with a Yorkshire terrier named Soca, and the two play together all day. When I come to pick him up after work, I can barely get him into his crate and out the door!! He just loves that little Yorkie…
I’m looking to your group for help. I don’t know that I can be a good parent for Buster (and Ginger, and Fred the cat…) in the long run. I have some medical problems that may require me to be hospitalized, and Buster needs to be somewhere that can give him round-the-clock attention when he needs it. I don’t want him to ever feel abandoned again. So, if you think you can find him a nice home where he will be cared for, please contact me. I do not want to give him to just anyone, and I believe that rescue groups are my best resource.
Can you give Buster a forever home?
