Buffy is a sweet little black and white Springer with a tail. She seems a little on the thin side. She just arrived into foster care and is adjusting fairly well. Buffy doesn’t know if she likes other dogs yet, but it is too soon to tell. She was a little fearful when she first arrived and growled at the other dogs. As the day went on when they were outside she loosened up a little and even seemed like she wanted to play with them but not quite yet. She also has a bit of submissive urination.
Buffy came with a note that she has allergies and was fed lamb and rice dog food. Her coat and skin are very soft and appear to be fine. Her foster family was also told that she doesn’t do well in the heat, she cries and yelps during nail trimming, she is groomed every 2 months because she doesn’t like being brushed, she loves being outside in all weather, loves walks, doesn’t want to swim or go in sprinkler, enjoys car rides and curls up and sleeps, she is nervous with thunder storms-needs to cuddle – and she absolutely loves people and especially children.
She hasn’t had any accidents in the house other than the submissive peeing. She has had the run of the house when her foster family is at home. She was placed in a crate; she didn’t really like it but didn’t fight it at all.
Buffy is a very sweet girl and she loves to give doggie kisses. She wants to be around people and will curl up as close as she can. When the other dogs are around she stays back, but this may change. If it doesn’t she would definitely be the perfect little lady in a one dog household.
Update: 1/13/03
Buffy had her surgery on Wednesday for kidney stones. She came home last night and is doing well. The vet is sending off the stone to see if it is a recurring type or just foreign matter. She has to be on antibiotics for 21 days and be rechecked at 28 days. They feel she should be on the type of lamb and rice dog food for the rest of her life due to her bladder problems. She was a good girl at the vet, and they said the only time she cried was when her foster family came to get her. She seems to know when it hurts and is taking it easy. She is on pain pills for today yet.
Update: 1/22/03
Buffy had her stitches removed yesterday. The incision looks pretty good. The vet was very pleased. The results for the stone have not come back yet. Buffy has about 11 days of antibiotics left and then they would like us to wait a week and bring her back in for another urine sample to check for crystals. Buffy will most likely have to stay on the special dog food for the rest of her life. The dog food will make her urine more acidic and prevent crystals from forming. Buffy is doing better as far as having to urinate as much. We still let her out a lot, but now she isn’t urinating every time she goes out the door. She also is not being crated at night and has not had any accidents.
She is really a sweetheart, a cuddlebug, and is getting along better with the dogs in her foster home. She plays with them but still growls at them when she feels like it. Buffy likes to play and will pick up a ball and even play by herself. She is very vocal when she wants something, has that growly whiny voice. Buffy loves to go for car rides and curls up or stretches out and enjoys the ride.
Is this little lady for you?
