When his owner lost her job and was no longer able to care for him, Buddy 34 went to a Delaware shelter. A MAESSR volunteer pulled this sweet boy as soon as possible. He only stayed one night with this volunteer, but he was the perfect gentleman. Buddy climbed into the bathtub, and was patient while she cleaned him up. He was not interested in playing with the young and energetic resident dogs, but at 12 years of age, he’s entitled to a little peace and quiet!
Buddy arrived in his foster home after a 6 hour car ride the next day. It was immediately clear to his foster mother that he had multiple medical issues. He was severely limping due to advanced arthritis in his spine and hips. He had an ear infection that was so severe his left ear had blisters. Buddy was also having difficulty breathing, so his foster mother called for an emergency veterinary appointment in the morning. A total sweetheart, Buddy let his foster mother take care of his ears, pet him for hours, and generally spoil him rotten that night!
Sadly, the next morning, x-rays showed that Buddy had advanced cancer. Tumors in his lungs were causing his breathing difficulties, and a tumor pressing against his heart was giving him the symptoms of congestive heart failure. Although it broke his foster mother’s heart, the decision was made to help this sweet boy cross the Rainbow Bridge, peacefully and with dignity.
