Update 05/27/10:
Buddy has done very well in his foster home and with his foster family. He is about as perfect as you could ask for in their environment. However, Buddy recently went for a ride and when he met a new person, he let her know that they were not close enough friends for her to pet him. Buddy’s foster mom just handed the leash to another person who took Buddy for a short walk. When they returned from their walk, Buddy and the new person were great friends. His foster parents are continuing to work on this with Buddy. He does best when meeting new people if they just ignore him for a couple of minutes. Buddy will then come to them, demanding that they love on him.
This boy is so sweet and just needs a family that will continue to work with him on meeting new people. His health is good, particularly now that he is consistently on his thyroid medication. It is an inexpensive small pill-type med that he takes very willingly and has brought his coat back into very good condition. Buddy’s coat is as soft as silk. In the dog savvy hands of people who will work with him as well as love on him, Buddy’s inner self will be just as consistently soft!
Update 04/26/10:
Buddy returned to MAESSR when his adopting family was just too overwhelmed to keep up with his daily medication. He reunited with his original foster family and was immediately started back on his meds. The medication is an inexpensive one that Buddy takes very easily. It makes a huge difference in the way he feels daily and in his long-term health. Buddy acts just as wonderfully now as he did prior to being adopted. He is just a big teddy bear and a super sweetheart.
If you are looking for someone to be with you all the time and smile at you like you are the most wonderful person in the universe, then this is the boy for you.
Original:
Buddy came to MAESSR when he became just a bit too much for his Virginia family who were also dealing with four human siblings. He walked into his foster home like he had always lived there. This huggable teddy bear is just a blast to be around and he loves to be close to his people.
Buddy loves to ride in the car. He is crate trained and has not counter-surfed in his foster home. Buddy will pull a little on his leash when out for a walk, but he absolutely LOVES to go for a walk. He is totally housebroken and shows good house manners.
Buddy was showing some anxiety in new situations so he was put on an inexpensive medication that allows him to relax and enjoy himself. When he went to the vet for his complete check-up, his blood work indicated that his thyroid levels were low. So, Buddy was started on a thyroid supplement and seems to be feeling MUCH better.
This is a BUDDY that everyone would like to have!!!
