Bubo (now nicknamed Bo) came into MAESSR’s care when his Virginia family moved to a place that didn’t allow dogs. It must have been a sad day for his first family as Bo is a beautiful, well-mannered charmer.
Bo appears to love all people and particularly children. He will crowd up to a child and nudge their hands as an invitation to play. Tug-of-war is his favorite game. He will carry around socks and caps that are left out, but only to get attention; he does not chew them. Bo does not seem to know how to play with dogs. During a visit to a dog park, he spent some time watching cautiously from under a picnic table. He was submissive to any dog that approached him. On walks, he is more interested in other dog walkers than their dogs. He pulls on a leash, but not hard.
This good boy is fully housetrained, and will scratch lightly at a door or whine softly to go out. He doesn’t like to be out alone and will stand by the door waiting for someone to walk around the yard with him. It is not known if he is crate trained. When someone isn’t home during the day, his foster family gates him in the kitchen and he has free run of the house when someone is at home. He sleeps in the master bedroom at night, where he would prefer to sleep on the bed. Although he respectfully backs off when told, Bo does sneak quietly onto the bed after his foster parents are asleep. He doesn’t try to get on any other furniture.
A well-mannered dog, Bo does not counter-surf or trash drive. He does not dig in the garden or try to leap the fence. Bo is overly optimistic that he will be fed from the table or that food will fall from the counter. Consequently, his foster mom has to be careful not to trip over him while cooking!
Bo knows the commands “sit,” “lie down,” and “paw.” He rides well in the car. His favorite spot is as front seat passenger, where he will curl up and go to sleep. He hasn’t been to the vet or groomer yet, but his foster family expects him to behave well. He does enjoy being brushed.
It won’t be long till Bo is ready to move on to his forever home. Maybe it will be with you!
