Update 11/02/2013: “A verbal guy, Bubba will bark or carry on a conversation using other mouth noises. What a character!”
Bubba’s foster mom has found that, although Bubba is technically nine years old, he acts like he’s only five. He seems to feel strongly about some of his habits and he’s pretty certain that he’s not going to change!
For example, Bubba finds it necessary to sleep in bed with his person. If denied, he will find a way to “convince” his foster mom that she’ll fall asleep much faster if he’s in bed with her. Being a lap dog also is important to Bubba. Of course, as winter approaches, this can be a real advantage to those who look for inexpensive, natural forms of heat! Riding in the car is not one of Bubba’s favorite things to do, so, he prefers to sit on the floor in the front passenger side of the car. He feels much more comfortable riding this way.
Bubba is one Velcro boy. He will bark if he sees his foster mom but is unable to get close to her. A verbal guy, Bubba will bark or carry on a conversation using other mouth noises. What a character! Otherwise, he settles down and is quiet and content to be with his human.
Bubba has begun to show some prowess at counter-surfing food from the dinner table, so it’s important to keep an eye out for any stealth missions on his part. Tissues from the bathroom trash can seem to be a high-value treat, too!
This sweet boy is a real lover; he’s good with children and other dogs, too. He has a gentle mouth and walks great on a leash.
Bubba is looking to be someone’s devoted friend, lap dog, and bed-warmer. Add Bubba to your family and turn down your thermostat!
Original: “Bubba is strong-willed boy who wants what he wants and tells his foster mom with his bark as if talking with her.”
After his Maryland owner died a couple of months ago, Bubba went to live with the owner’s brother. However, close contact with the brother’s intact male dog proved to be too much for both boys and MAESSR was called to help. Bubba had been extremely close to his original owner—two bachelors living alone–and was left by himself more than usual when his owner became ill. This sweet Velcro dog has had more than his share of turmoil this past summer.
Bubba is well mannered and housetrained, but does not seem to know many commands. He does pull on a leash and does not walk on just one side of his person. He is behaving better with the help of 2 walks a day in his foster home. He does not, however, chase squirrels or other animals when on a walk—good boy, Bubba!!
This handsome gent was crated when he first arrived at his foster home and did not like it at all. He now has the run of the house and will sleep all day in a family room chair. At night he sleeps in the bedroom on a dog bed, but about 4:00 a.m. wants to join his mom in her bed—maybe remembering that that is where he slept with his previous owner. Bubba, thinking he’s a lap dog, also likes to join his people in a chair.
He is a well-mannered fellow who does not counter-surf or dig. He does go into the bathroom trash to pick out tissues to eat. Bubba believes in sharing, will eat out of the other dog’s dishes and wanders around when he eats. He likes to carry around his stuffed toys, too.
Car riding is not one of Bubba’s favorite things. He becomes very nervous and will bark if not next to his person. He does also bark when separated from his folks although he was reportedly fine when left alone during the time his original owner worked. Although Bubba has not run off when he scoots out the door, he has yet to be tested off leash and should probably have a fenced in yard and a family with children older than 5.
Bubba is strong-willed boy who wants what he wants and tells his foster mom with his bark as if talking with her. He keeps it up until she understands what he wants! Are you ready to learn Bubba-speak and be the furever home for this talkative fellow?
