Update 03/27/12:
Brownie had a surgery on his salivary duct. It was hugely successful and has now completely healed. Unfortunately, he somehow got a nasty cut on the pad of a foot which is now being treated.
This guy’s wonderfully sweet personality has continued to shine through, even with all of his medical issues. His foster family thinks he is just a great boy. Brownie’s only fault is that he barks while riding in the car. He loves to go for rides, but barks when the car slows down. Maybe this boy just doesn’t want the fun to end……:)).
As soon as his foot has healed, Brownie will be ready to go on to his adopting home. Are you ready to welcome this boy into your family?
Original:
Brownie was surrendered to a West Virginia shelter due to divorce and financial issues. He has a blocked salivary duct and his family could not afford the necessary surgery. They were broken hearted at having to surrender him, but felt they had no other options.
Several very nice people helped transport Brownie to his foster home. They were all concerned about the large lump under his tongue that would hang out of his mouth when he panted. He was immediately taken to the vet for a complete checkup. The vet decided to try a less intrusive surgical procedure to allow the saliva duct to drain. Initially the lump did reduce in size, but unfortunately it clogged again. Brownie will now be going to the surgical specialist to have the salivary gland removed. The good news is that the lump is not painful for Brownie and he is an excellent patient. Good boy, Brownie! Hopefully he will soon be finished with all of his procedures and be lump-free.
Brownie has wonderful house manners and is just a pleasure to be around. He fit into his foster home like he had always lived there. Brownie loves attention and will let you pet him for hours. He also does well being groomed, since that just means he gets even more attention! He does not like to be crated, but will settle down in a crate after a couple of minutes. His foster mom has not pushed the issue since he is so well behaved. Brownie does pull very hard on the leash. He will settle down and walk better after a while.
Looking for a new best friend? It doesn’t get much sweeter than this Brownie!
