When Brownie’s original owner lost her home to foreclosure, Brownie went to reside with family members in Maryland. Unfortunately, with small children and a dog of their own, they were not able to keep Brownie so they turned to MAESSR knowing they would find her a great home.
True to her name, Brownie is a sweet Springer who wants nothing more than to be close to her foster parents and pampered with lots of attention. She was a little nervous and unsure of her surroundings when she first came to her foster home, but she is settling into a routine and feeling more confident every day. Her first visit to the vet was a little intimidating, but with her foster dad close by her side, she handled the shots and examination like a champ.
Brownie is housebroken and signals her need to go outside by whining at the back door. She is also crate trained, and spends time in the crate when her foster family is away from home. At night, she curls up on her doggie bed in the hallway outside her foster parent’s bedroom. Brownie loves food, and though she does not counter-surf or trash dive, she will sit patiently next to anyone eating yummy human food, in hopes that a small morsel will be dropped her way! Her foster family does not allow her up on the furniture, but being the affectionate dog that she is, she certainly tries to slowly crawl her way up into their laps for some cuddle time in front of the TV.
A well behaved girl, Brownie rides nicely in the car and does not chew on inappropriate things or guard any resources. She loves to go for walks and runs on the leash, but pulls some, especially at the sight of a squirrel or cat! This energetic girl also loves to chase tennis balls in the backyard. Brownie knows a small repertoire of commands including “sit,” “down,” and “come.”
Brownie treats everyone in the household, people and dogs alike, with love, affection, and playfulness. She would love to have a forever home with a family who will give her the attention she craves, as well as enough exercise to fulfill her energy needs.
