Original: In Brownie’s world, there is only one speed and that’s full throttle. She loves to play, run around, and then will drop asleep in a minute’s time. A bit tentative when meeting new people, she is a joyful and loving puppy. Sadly for her, she was turned into a shelter when a young child in her family developed allergies to her. In another home that has love, patience, and a willingness to train, she will easily thrive.
Brownie is 100% housebroken and shows no interest in trashcans or other dog tempting items. She will pull on a leash, but this is due to a blend of being an explorer and lack of training. She knows the command “sit” and has a reasonably reliable understanding of “come.” She has crate familiarity but at present does not crate well. Her foster family is working on this but currently the crate translates to a negative experience for Brownie. When she has been left alone, she has been left unrestricted with good results. Riding in a car is a bit of a challenge right now for Brownie too, but given her young age, she may outgrow this or overcome it with some extra time spent on acclimating her to travel.
There is a young male springer in her foster home who Brownie plays very well with. She enjoys all toys and will run all around the house carrying her treasured toy of the moment. She also loves to be with people and wants to be a part of their world. She will be right alongside in everyday activities and will paw for attention if she thinks she’s being overlooked. Given her use of paws and her activity level, she could be a great companion in a family with children who are at least school age. Her curiosity level is high as would be for most puppies her age. She is sleeping on a dog bed at the side of the foster mom’s bed and will settle right down when the lights go out.
Brownie is a very smart puppy. She will benefit greatly by an obedience class with her new family and, because of her age, it is also a requirement of adoption. Her foster mom feels Brownie should excel in any kind of competitive dog sports, such as obedience or agility. She listens well and very much wants to please. She will be the perfect companion for a family that wants spirit coupled with love and that is willing to take the time to guide her into young adulthood.
