Original: Brandy was given up to a shelter in western Virginia after a concerned citizen complained about her living conditions. She and another dog had only one dog house to share. Initially, it was estimated that she was under a year old, but the vet who saw her in foster care feels she is closer to 2 years old. She weighs around 43 pounds, could gain about 5 pounds, and is liver and white with beautiful, light brown highlights any woman would die for. She just recently had a litter, so she needs to be spayed and that will happen soon. Her nose was completely dried out when she arrived at her foster home too and is healing nicely.
She is doing well on her housebreaking but still has an occasional accident when left for more than 4 hours. She can and will counter surf if given the chance, so clean counters are a must. Brandy hasn’t chewed any inappropriate items, perhaps because she loves her rawhide bones. She walks well on a leash and is ok around her food bowl with humans, allowing them to touch her bowl. She is not so charitable with the resident dogs and has given a low growl once or twice when one of them tried to get to her food. She just loves feeding time and gets very excited. With that outlook it won’t take her long to gain a healthy weight.
In her foster home there are three other dogs and Brandy does very well with them, but she isn’t playing with them. She is much more interested in her human friends. She is very, very mellow for her age and is more than willing to just get petted for hours at a time. She loves to roll on her back and get belly rubs. She is very good with children and has been around them as young as 3 years. She sleeps on the bed and loves to be touching a person. This is how her foster dad happens to know she tends to snore and grunt throughout the night. She is unknown with cats, but given her personality, she’d probably do well with them.
Brandy is looking for a family that will make her an important part of its life and in turn, the family will have a dog that will just love and adore them. She does not like a crate so far and will cry to get out. Her foster dad feels that she will not do well with being left alone for more than 4 or 5 hours at a time, so a midday walker or someone home during the day would be ideal for this gal. She could be a wonderful addition to so many families. Are you ready to give Brandy her much deserved “new beginning”?
