Brandon is a beautifully marked boy from Pennsylvania who was relinquished to MAESSR when a neighbor reported the male in the home was abusing him. Brandon’s original owner had died; the family did not want this love and he was given to someone who kept him outside all day.
Brandon is a sweet Velcro boy. He is not yet completely housetrained although he is learning to wait for his mom to let him out when she comes home. His manners are somewhat in question as he likes to jump up on the counter to see what his person is doing, and, if he had the opportunity, he would counter-surf. On the positive side, handsome does not chew, dig, or trash dive. He does not guard his toys or food and is learning not to jump on people or hump legs. Brandon likes to ride in the car and take walks. He is good on a leash. On a walk he will let the kids pet him, but he does not show a lot of interest in these young two-footed critters.
Brandon is a quiet dog. He will bark only if a stranger comes to the door. He can be left in the house all day. The new guy in the home is not crated and sleeps in a doggie bed in the bedroom. He likes to chase a ball and will bring it back. He is allowed off lead and stays on the property. If he walks to the neighbor’s house and is called, he comes right back. He will have a treat soon in his future in the form of a trip to his foster’s farm (run, run, run) and a chance for a swim.
Mr. B. is strong willed, wants attention and will nuzzle his person for petting. He can be gentle with his paws but if he does not receive attention, he will let his nails scratch. While he does not bite, he will take his front teeth and nip or grab a sleeve for attention.
Brandon will let his person bathe him and clip his hair, but he does not like his ears cleaned or nails groomed.
This is a good dog. He needs a lot of attention and a person he can love to make up for the losses and abuses he has suffered. Brandon is strong willed, so he needs an owner who can set boundaries, provide some training, and give him the love and safe home he has been missing.
