Update 4/7/06: This sweet, young boy has blossomed into a great Springer joy. He is completely housebroken and doesn’t counter surf, jump on people, trash can pick, or get on furniture. Boscoe does like to “mouth” hands but is gentle about it. He especially loves to play and cuddle or go for rides in the car with his family.
Boscoe has had an unusual setback on his way to adoption. He got into a scrap with some of the other Springers in his foster home. It was not his fault, but he nonetheless came out on the short end of the disagreement. He required a visit to the vet and is almost fully recovered, actually, he is just waiting for some lost hair to grow back. True to his gentle nature, during his care to get him healed, Boscoe just amazed the vet staff with his very amiable and tolerant personality. Someone is going to get a real “gem” when they adopt this sweetie!
Original: Boscoe is an energetic young adult who came into rescue through no fault of his own. He was owned by a military family which, unfortunately, could not take him with them when they were being relocated. After a brief stay in a shelter, he came into MAESSR’s care. He is healthy and only needs a bit of time to recover from an overabundance of fleas that he picked up along the way. The fleas have resulted in some itchy skin but that is expected to disappear completely now that he is on flea preventative. Boscoe is a bit lean at 40 pounds, but extra meals for a few weeks should fill him out quite nicely.
Boscoe loves attention, as do most Springers, and has an interesting way of asking for it. He has a little warble in his voice as he tries to “talk” to his foster parents, and if that doesn’t quite get the result he wants, he will occasionally howl. Wouldn’t you love to hear that?!? His actual barks are few and far between.
Running circles in the backyard with the resident Springers is a real treat for Boscoe. He also gets along with the resident cat very nicely. He jumps right into a good game of “fetch.” Boscoe knows a few obedience commands and is working to learn more from his foster parents. He is housebroken and sleeps in a crate at night. He’ll hold out for a dog treat before going in, but once in, he’s fine!
Boscoe has been around children as young as two and did well. This sweetie could fit into many, many homes. As he had in the past, he deserves a loving one. Could it be yours?
