Original: “Bosco loves attention and is sweet as can be.”
Pet allergies and the birth of a new baby kept Bosco confined to a few rooms in his Virginia home. This lack of stimulation led to the development of mischievous behaviors such as tearing paper and chewing on furniture. His family called MAESSR, hoping the bright fellow could receive more attention in another home.
This handsome senior is now enjoying the company of two other dogs. He is passive when another dog approaches him and gets along fine with all. His foster family has another 9 year old Springer, and he mostly likes to hang out with her. He has run of the house and is content to stay by his foster mom’s side. Bosco loves attention and is sweet as can be.
Bosco is house trained, and, although his original family said he may have an accident when overly excited, his foster family has not seen this. He has not given a signal when he needs to go out. Rather, he is let out in the backyard frequently and does his business at that time. He had been crate trained in the past but reportedly was reluctant to crate after a three month hiatus.
The MAESSR family’s newest member is smart and well behaved. He knows the commands, “heel,” “bed,” “roll over,” and “shake.” There’s no counter-surfing or trash diving for this dude. His foster family lets him on the furniture, but he quickly gets off. He will come onto his foster mom’s bed when invited, but seems to prefer sleeping in his own bed next hers. He is fed in the kitchen with the other dogs and doesn’t try to get at their food. He loves chewy and squeaky toys and the occasional rawhide chew.
Bosco barks at people walking by “his house” and barks when meeting new people, although he quickly warms up to them and is endearing. For a 9 year old dog, he is very energetic. He loves to swim and run in the backyard and the park. He’s very astute at recognizing other critters in the area and does chase after them. He runs with the other dogs at the dog park but also likes exploring on his own.
Always ready for an adventure, Bosco rides happily in a car and walks well on a leash. His original family said he is trustworthy off leash, but that is an area still to be explored by his foster family.
While he enjoys the company of other dogs, Bosco just wants lots of love and attention. He may be best suited in a home which focuses mostly on him, perhaps as an only dog. Are you ready to welcome this good looking boy into your home for the holidays and furever?
