Boots ended up in a Virginia shelter because of his age. Knowing that a senior can languish in a shelter and be passed over for adoption, MAESSR came to his assistance, pulling him and placing him with an experienced foster family. Although the majority of senior Springers make the transition between shelter life and life in a foster home with ease, this was not the case with Boots. Within a short time, it became apparent that his temperament made him unsuitable for adoption.
