Update 11/22/04:
Bonnie II was adopted by a very loving family in late 2003 and was renamed Nell. She has just been returned to MAESSR’s program because of her response to a recent change in her home. The family provided this update, reflecting their experiences with Bonnie, Nell to them, because they wanted everyone to understand what a great girl she is. Bonnie has spent the last year with a 10 year old, deaf springer and a cat, and with a new name, Nell. After some initial issues, she settled in very well, although she always chased the cat.
She is a complete people dog, locking on to her parents with an intense bond. Her family didn’t have to wonder where she was because she would always be with them. She was great with the 8 and 10 year old grandchildren when they visited, helping them in their baseball game every day.
Nell’s favorite thing is to be outside. She has been in an invisible fence for the last year without incident. She flushes birds out of the bushes and chases shadows. She will sit in the yard, watching for something to happen for hours. She is a pleasure to watch as she sits quietly, and then rushes about chasing something, almost anything. Her long flowing hair waves in the breeze.
Nell is good on a leash, knows the basic commands, and doesn’t chew, counter surf, trash pick or beg. She is crate trained but does not need to be crated when left alone in the house. She stays off the furniture as long as her people are around. Nell is good in the car and will be upset if her family leaves home without her.
Nell is a very reliable alarm clock. You will know when it is 6:30 AM and when it is time to eat. And when it is time for sleep, her eyes will be closed and she may be snoring.
Nell is very tentative about meeting new people. She has to be urged to get to know them. But, once she gets a good smell, she is fine. And everyone falls in love with her.
Recently another female springer was added to Nell’s house. Nell took exception to this in an aggressive manner. Because of this, Nell is looking for a new home. If you have a home without other pets, Nell will make a loving addition to your life
Original:
Bonnie came into rescue because she begin fighting with her 18 pound peekapoo sister. Bonnie got along well with the 14 year old springer of the house Her owners were afraid that she was going to seriously injure the smaller dog, so after much thought, they decided to place her with MAESSR.
Bonnie is currently in a foster home with nine other dogs and has not had a problem with any of them. She also gets along well with cats. Bonnie loves children and will run and play with them. She will not be placed with children under 5 because she plays just a little rough with her foster mom’s 3 year old grandson.
Bonnie knows most of the basic commands, is crate trained, and house broken. She loves to be held and cuddled. She does not counter surf or trash pick.
Bonnie is an active, sweet springer. Do you have the time, love and attention that Bonnie likes?
