Updated 11/30/05: With a little more time to settle in his foster home, Bobby is relaxing with the people around him. When he visited the vet, the vet was very impressed with his behavior and overall health. Weighing in at 41.5 pounds, including his full tail, Bobby is a very healthy young adult. His only issue is a short-term treatment for whipworms.
Bobby is a really sweet dog who loves attention. He is a bit enthusiastic when he first encounters people but settles down. He did well recently when children, ages two and seven, visited in his foster home. He will take treats with a soft mouth and doesn’t mind sharing at mealtime.
For a dog who hasn’t had much experience on a leash, Bobby is doing well. He is working on the sit and off commands. He is a quick learner and should be easy to train further. He responds well with either treats or petting.
Bobby gets along well with the three resident Springers and two other fosters in his foster home. He has decided that having the run of the backyard is much better than being tied up as he was in his former home. He has done well in the house and goes out with the rest of the crew. While he may chase the resident cat for a short sprint, he quickly backs off and finds something else to do. Riding in a car is something else that Bobby enjoys doing.
Bobby will make a wonderful, lifelong companion for the family that decides to adopt him. Are you the one willing to give Bobby the love and attention he so deserves?
Original: Bobby is a very handsome field bred Springer. He came to MAESSR because a breeder had failed to sell Bobby and his two brothers. The breeder was expecting another litter and needed to move these youngsters along. The breeder advertised them locally and a rescue group in western Maryland responded. That group cared for the three boys for several days until MAESSR fostering could be arranged.
Bobby is learning to walk on a leash and will begin picking up the basic commands that every pup wants to know. He was totally without socialization prior to coming into foster care and will have lots of new experiences in the coming months. His foster family is working with him to teach him how to enjoy being an indoor dog and an important part of a family. More updates will follow as Bobby progresses.
