Update 03/18/12:
Mr. Bo is doing much better these days. His skin is clearing up nicely, although his latest skin test revealed that the infection is not yet completely gone. Consequently, he will continue his medication for another month. The dreaded baths are ongoing as well, but Bo continues to be a gentleman, despite his burden, with only the occasional grumbling.
Bo’s days are filled with teaching his foster brother all kinds of new things such as how to ask for treats. The lessons also include instructions for the special “Springer dance” and bark, which magically makes his foster mom arrive to fill the water bowl or food dish! When he’s not giving dance instructions, Bo is enjoying this delightful weather. In fact, he pesters his foster mom every morning to take him out for a run in the fields. There’s no slowing this senior boy down!
Ever the friendly guy, Bo is not giving up on trying to make friends with the resident kitties. He will do little dances for them or lie down in their doorway, making little cooing sounds. Those kitties must be awful stubborn to ignore such heartfelt offers of friendship! Since Bo is the perfect gentleman, he has become the official greeter for his foster home. He even loves the UPS man, although that might be because he comes with cookies.
This happy boy puts a smile on everyone’s face when he spreads his love. Do you like to dance? Bo might just be the perfect partner for you!
Update 02/11/12:
Bo continues to be a delight to his foster mom. He is quite the character and a very entertaining boy. Although he doesn’t play, he has lots of ways of interacting with his people. Bo is still trying to make friends with the resident kitties and they are still telling him “no way.” This makes him very unhappy, since he is pretty sure his job in life is to make the world smile.
All the coming and going of strange dogs doesn’t faze Bo at all, and his house manners continue to be excellent. Bo’s skin issues are clearing up nicely and he now only needs his medicated bath once a week. He is very happy about that, as standing around with the meds on him is not his favorite thing. Standing around is boring, and Bo is not into being bored!
When the time comes, this boy is going to make some lucky adopter very happy!
Update 01/08/12:
Bo returned to MAESSR when he developed skin issues that became too much for his adoptive family to deal with. He is an otherwise healthy, spry boy of 11 years now who enjoys life to the fullest.
This young-at-heart gent loves everyone he meets and gets along with all the dogs in his foster home. He would love to cuddle with the kitties but, unfortunately, they do not find that amusing. By day Bo prefers to be involved in whatever is going on at the time. He sleeps on a dog bed in his foster mom’s room at night, as he must always be near his people.
His house manners are impeccable and Bo has no bad habits, indoors or out. He loves running in the fields, flushing out whatever he can find, and comes as soon as he is called. He is good on a leash after the first couple of minutes and is always up for a walk. He loves to ride in the car and goes along every chance he gets. Bo knows “sit”, “down” and “speak.” Indeed, he is quite the talker with a rather large vocabulary and keeps his foster mom amused all day with his antics.
Bo is a laid back boy, easy to live with and always willing to please. He has settled well into his foster home and is already making his mark there as a really great companion. Look for more to come on this senior sweetheart!
Original:
Bo is a pretty perfect dog!!! His dad gave him a “summer cut” but, most of the time, he has a very beautiful show coat and people often stop to say how handsome he is!!!
How did he get into rescue? His human mom and dad got him, got married and had a baby. Then, his mom went into the hospital but something happened and she was gone. She had loved Bo so much it was like he was their son and boy; it made Bo sad to never see her again. Bo’s dad was really sad too. He had a two year old little girl, whom Bo loves, loves, loves, a home, a job, his broken heart and Bo to care for and way too little time for it all. Bo is a very mellow happy boy and spent a lot of time on the sofa watching his dad at night, taking care of it all. It was fine with him but his dad said he felt guilty. He didn’t have the time to take Bo out romping in the fields or swimming in the lake anymore. Their little girl is now four years old and she plays with Bo a lot but Bo’s dad wants him to have a busy, happy, loving life again.
The best part is that Bo loves kids. There were lots of nieces and nephews in his original family, cats, (His foster mom has six!) and other dogs. In fact, Bo would love having a big yard and any or all of those things to play with. He loves to run and play as well as take long walks. The other best part is that everyone says Bo is mellow and laid back in the house. No hyper active Springer boy here, Bo can sit by your feet and follow you around helping you do things if that is what you want. Bo is just a happy boy with a sad story.
It took a while for Bo to adjust to losing everyone he was used to; his foster mom said he just looked out the window a lot, waiting. Now, he is excited about a new family. He does like to “talk” to you (He’s a Leo with a happy, outgoing Leo personality.) and he will gaze in your eyes when you talk to him.
Bo is completely housebroken and doesn’t chew things up. He loves playing with his Kong and treat balls. He does like to let you know if someone comes to the door. He watches TV. If he figures out where the treats are or knows it’s meal time, he will come and get you with a few words of his own to let you know its time to eat. Bo will show you where you keep the food and treats or if a ball or toy is stuck under something. He’s really SMART!!!
At 55 pounds Bo is a big, beautiful boy. He is in good health and did well with his vet. Bo has a few small fatty tumors that the vet checked and said were fine. He is taking a thyroid medication and his skin gets irritated seasonally. If he has a flare, a dermal bath and a course of antibiotics keep him in good shape. Everyone that meets Bo adores him and he is looking for love. ARE YOU LOOKING FOR HIM?
